Preds top NJ Wolves Take Metrobowl Championship, 3rd in a row

Brooklyn, NY; The New York Predators continued their winning ways beating the NJ Wolves 13 to 12 in a thriller capturing their fourth  Metrobowl Championship, third in a row. The Wolves opening possession gave up their longest play of the year as the Wolves RB ran 60 yards up the sideline until rookie CB Dimitri Wilson came from the other side of the field to catch the the RB before scoring. The Preds defense stood tall the rest of that drive stopping the Wolves from scoring as CB Kareen Moon made the Int in the end-zone. The Preds kept the BNEFF champion off the scoreboard in the first half.  After an earlier drive which ended in a botched snapand a missed field goal the Predators took the early lead following a solid drive and ending in a QB Kasey Nunez to WR Mauricio Valmon connection for the TD. The Preds went into the half with a 6 - 0 lead.

The Wolves opened the half with the ball and drove a little but to their own 44 yard line when they were faced with a fourth and one. The Predators seemingly unready for the play let the Wolves RB not only get the 1st down but he sprinted untouched up the gut for a 56 yard TD tying the game at 6. The Predators answered later in the third with hard nose running by RB Adeboy Akimba and QB Kasey Nunez who connected with several receivers on the drive as well as scoring on a 12 yard run giving the Preds a 13 to 6 edge. The Wolves put together on their next possession but CB Marlan Beckles got the Int keeping the Wolves at bay.

In the fourth quarter the Wolves bulled there way down the field behind tough running and great blocking and finally scoring on a 5 yard run up the middle. The Wolves went for two instead of going for the tie and were stopped in the backfield keeping making the score 13 to 12. Later in the fourth the Preds had two chances to put the game away but both times came away empty. Once after a nice Int by CB Dimitri Wilson the offe3nse  fumbled inside Wolves territory and the other where they failed to convert on fourth down inside the Wolves 15. The Wolves final drive saw another Wilson Int get taken away with a late hit but then on fourth and long after a two big time plays by LB Glenroy Watkins a 6 yard loss as he caught the RB in the backfield and a Sack by Mike Hurt the Wolves QB was forced to throw up a prayer that went unanswered as the Preds pulled it out 13 to 12

Pred Notes; The Preds are headed down to Florida for their third USFA Bowl  appearance in as many years. They are one and one in bowls in their history.
